Rickie Fowler has had to pull out of the WM Phoenix Open due to illness, much to the disappointment of his many fans who were eager to see him compete. Known for his dynamic play and engaging presence, Fowler’s absence is a tough blow for the tournament. This setback adds to the challenges he’s facing this season as he works hard to bounce back and reclaim his spot among the PGA Tour’s elite
World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler expressed frustration after a disappointing drive on the 18th hole, potentially jeopardizing his chances of making the cut. Despite a solid start to the tournament, his wayward tee shot left him facing a challenging approach.
Scheffler’s irritation was evident as he slammed his driver into the ground. The errant shot could have severe implications, as the cutline is projected to be around par or even under. Scheffler is currently on the cusp of missing the weekend rounds, putting pressure on him to recover in the remaining holes.
Reigning FedEx champion Viktor Hovland has candidly admitted that his game is currently not up to par.
“My game is not very good at the moment,” Hovland shared. “I’m struggling with my ball striking, my putting feels off, and my chipping isn’t where it needs to be. Overall, I’m just not playing the golf I know I can.”
Hovland’s recent performances have reflected these challenges. He faced disappointment by missing the cut at both the RBC Canadian Open and the John Deere Classic, and he ended up tied for 58th at the Rocket Mortgage Classic.
While he’s uncertain about what’s behind his slump, Hovland remains committed to finding a solution.
“I’m focused on staying positive and putting in the effort,” he said. “I believe I’m capable of much better golf than this, so I’m just trying to be patient as I work through it.
