‘Happy Gilmore’ sequel to film at New Jersey golf club in October

Production for the upcoming “Happy Gilmore” sequel will begin filming at the Mountain Ridge Country Club in West Caldwell, New Jersey, according to an internal club memo from general manager Will Scoular.

The long-awaited sequel to the 1996 comedy will reportedly follow Gilmore as he attempts to regain his status as the world’s greatest golfer.

The original “Happy Gilmore” starred Adam Sandler as a down-on-his-luck hockey player who discovers that he has a natural talent for golf. The film was a critical and commercial success, grossing over $41 million worldwide.

Sandler is expected to reprise his role as Gilmore in the sequel, which is being directed by Dennis Dugan.

Mountain Ridge Country Club members have been asked to avoid certain scheduled areas during filming, and the club has indicated that some holes will be closed sporadically. The memo also said that some production will take place overnight in October.
