Russell, 15, debuts with 74 at Rocket Mortgage

Fifteen-year-old Australian amateur Aaron Russell fired a 3-over 74 in his PGA Tour debut on Thursday at the Rocket Mortgage Classic, making him the youngest player to make the cut at a PGA Tour event since Guan Tianlang in 2013.

Russell, who is ranked No. 1 in the World Amateur Golf Ranking, birdied the 10th hole to move to 1 under, but he made three bogeys on the back nine to finish the day tied for 74th place.

“I thought I played pretty well,” Russell said. “I hit some good shots, but I also made some mistakes. I’m still learning, but I’m happy with how I played.”

Dominate Short Par-4s with this Simple 2-Step Strategy

Golf enthusiasts rejoice! A renowned golf instructor has revealed a groundbreaking 2-step strategy that will transform your short par-4 game.

Step 1: Assess the Approach

Identify the pin’s location and measure the distance from your ball to the green. Calculate the yardage needed to reach the target, taking into account wind conditions and elevation changes.

Step 2: Select a Conservative Club

Instead of attempting a risky long shot, opt for a safer club that allows you to hit the green in regulation. Aim for the front of the green, giving yourself a shorter putt rather than a perilous chip.

Should caddies correct players in big moments? 2 loopers weigh in

Should caddies correct players in big moments? 2 loopers weigh in

Caddies play a vital role in golf, providing players with advice and support on the course. But what happens when a player makes a mistake in a big moment? Should caddies correct them?

Two caddies, one who has worked with major champions and another who has experience on the Korn Ferry Tour, weigh in on the issue.

Caddie A believes that it is important to correct players in big moments. “If you see your player making a mistake, you have to say something,” he said. “It’s your job to help them play their best.”

Caddie B, however, believes that it is sometimes better to let players figure things out on their own. “You don’t want to over-coach your player,” he said. “Sometimes it’s better to just let them learn from their mistakes.”

Ultimately, the decision of whether or not to correct a player in a big moment is up to the caddie. But it is an important issue to consider, as it can have a significant impact on the player’s performance.
