Justin Rose narrowly missed out on a remarkable Open Championship victory but the 2013 U.S. Open champion believes Royal Troon could hold a special place in his future. Rose had to settle for a tie for fourth after a superb 67 on Sunday that saw him surge into contention, despite starting the day six shots off the lead. But the Englishman was unable to overhaul eventual champion Henrik Stenson and admitted he had been left “gutted” not to have claimed the Claret Jug. “It was a very emotional day for me,” said Rose, whose father Ken carried his bag throughout the tournament. “I was choking back tears a few times as I walked up the 18th. I wanted it so bad.”
