Swiss golfer Metraux shoots 66, leads at halfway

Swiss golfer Jeremy Metraux shot a five-under-par round of 66 to take a one-shot lead at the halfway stage of the European Tour’s Made in Denmark tournament.

The 30-year-old, who won his maiden European Tour title at the Open de Portugal last year, carded six birdies and one bogey at Himmerland Golf & Spa Resort to finish the day on nine under par.

He leads by one shot from England’s Aaron Rai, who shot a 67, and Scotland’s Connor Syme, who carded a 68.

Metraux, who is ranked 144th in the world, is bidding to become the first Swiss player to win multiple European Tour titles since Mathias Gronberg in 2002.
