Kyle Russell, a 15-year-old golfer from Vancouver Island, made history on Thursday by becoming the youngest player ever to make the cut at a Korn Ferry Tour event.

Russell carded opening rounds of 69 and 71 to finish in a tie for 44th, seven shots back of the leader.

“It’s incredible, this is a dream come true,” said Russell after his round. “I’ve been working so hard for this and it’s paid off.”

Augusta Women’s champ wanted to make Chevron cut. Now she could win

Jennifer Kupcho didn’t make the cut at the Chevron Championship, the first time that’s happened to her on the LPGA Tour. But if she finishes off her run at the Augusta National Women’s Amateur with a victory Sunday she will earn the respect of everyone in the women’s game. Kupcho, 25, defeated Ingrid Lindblad 2 and 1 in Saturday’s semifinals thanks to a hot putter, advancing to her second straight final. Last year she lost to world No. 1 Rose Zhang in 38 holes, but this year she’s ready to do whatever it takes.

Nelly Korda’s brilliance on full display at Chevron. Here’s why

Nelly Korda delivered a dominant display at the Chevron Championship, claiming her second major title. The 24-year-old American showcased her brilliance throughout the tournament, carding four rounds in the 60s.

Korda’s exceptional ball-striking was evident, finding fairways and greens with remarkable consistency. Her pinpoint approach shots set up birdie opportunities, which she converted with aplomb. Furthermore, her steady putting proved crucial, particularly under pressure on the challenging Rancho Mirage greens.

Korda’s long-distance hitting also played a key role, allowing her to gain an advantage on the par-5s. Her ability to power the ball off the tee and reach greens in two shots proved pivotal in building her lead.

Bryan, who birdied six of the first seven holes he played on Thursday, resumed in similar fashion Friday, birdieing No. 12 to move to 12 under and increase his lead to three on tour rookie Scott Stallings.

Bryan is looking for his first tour win this week, while Stallings is looking for his second. They comprise the final pairing for the final round Saturday at La Cana Golf Club.

**Is Golf Getting Greener?**

Environmental concerns are increasingly shaping the world of golf. But what does the data say about sustainability in the sport?

Here are some key findings:

* **Water usage:** Golf courses are often criticized for their high water consumption, but advancements in irrigation technology have significantly reduced usage.
* **Chemical use:** Improved practices and products have decreased the use of pesticides and fertilizers on greens and fairways.
* **Energy efficiency:** Electric golf carts, solar lighting, and energy-efficient clubhouse appliances are becoming more common.
* **Wildlife protection:** Golf courses can provide important habitats for wildlife. Many courses now incorporate natural areas and reduce habitat disturbance.

While there’s progress, challenges remain. Climate change, water scarcity, and pesticide over-reliance continue to impact the sport. However, the data suggests that golf is making strides towards greater sustainability.

This pro’s bizarre grip could be coming to the PGA Tour soon

A non-traditional grip taught by a PGA pro could soon be seen on the Tour, as players look to gain an edge on the competition. The grip, known as the “Cross-Handed Grip,” has been popularized by instructor Sean Foley, who has worked with Tiger Woods and Justin Rose. The grip involves holding the club with the left hand above the right, instead of the traditional right hand below the left.
