Fulton’s Owen Van Zuiden took top individual honors at the Eastland Invitational on Saturday,carding a 76 to edge Dakota’s Koehn Lawfer by one stroke.
Van Zuiden leads the field
Van Zuiden’s round was enough to lead the boys’ standings, with Lawfer finishing close behind at 77. Hudson Price also was listed among the tournament’s individual leaders.
The tight finish gave the Eastland golf invite plenty of drama at the top, but Van Zuiden held on for the win and gave Fulton a strong showing in the team results.
A strong day for Fulton
Fulton came away with early-season bragging rights behind its leading scorer. Van Zuiden’s 76 set the tone, and the steamers will look to carry that momentum into their next meet.
