The standout performer of the‍ tournament ⁣so far, Gotterup⁢ (-12), ‌found six birdies on Thursday after opening with a bogey on the par-4 1st, to⁤ extend his lead ⁤to four over ‍Dottie Ardina, who had ⁤one eagle ⁣and three birdies ⁢on‍ her ⁣round.

Ardina, currently⁣ sitting on ‍-8, had ‌a bogey-free⁤ round on⁣ Wednesday, and, despite the ⁢three strokes separating ⁤the‌ two players, believes she can still put pressure ⁣on Gotterup at⁢ the weekend.

“I’m ‌really pleased with the way I’m playing and the way ⁢I’m hitting ⁤the ball,” Ardina said. “I can do a ⁣couple of things better with my putting and short game, ⁣but ‌overall I’m really happy. You never know what can happen, but I will give ⁢it ⁣my⁢ best shot.”

Others⁢ chasing the leaders are Jodi Schaffer ⁤(-7), who holed out from 109 yards ⁤for eagle on the par-4 5th⁢ for‌ a four-under-par⁤ 69 on Thursday, and ⁣Thailand’s‍ Thidapa Suwannapura (-6) who was ⁢three-under after⁣ 11 holes.

Suwannapura, ‌who also made the cut ⁣at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship last month,⁤ said her first-round 70 ‌was pleasing⁤ given that ⁢she⁤ had not performed ‌at her best recently.

“I just played very consistent today, ‌hit a⁢ lot of greens ‌and made a couple of putts, and hit it really‍ long,” Suwannapura said. “This is one of my favorite courses and I’m playing really well, so I just need to focus on my short game on the greens and⁢ putting and I think⁤ I’ll make ⁣a lot ⁣of birdies.”

After her course-record 10-under 63 on Wednesday, ⁣Jenny Haglund (-5) did not⁣ manage to maintain‌ the same rhythm and shot⁣ a round of 72 on⁣ Thursday that included three birdies and ⁤three bogeys.

The Swedish ⁢player, who won twice on the LET last year and was named LET Rookie of the Year in 2009, ⁤said ⁤that despite the marginally disappointing second round, she remains optimistic for the weekend.

“The ‍wind really picked up a little bit today⁤ and the greens ‍got ‍a little⁢ bit firmer ⁤and slower,” Haglund⁣ said. “I hit the⁣ ball not as good today as I did yesterday, but all in all, a⁤ solid round. I’m not ⁢too far behind, only five shots, so the next‌ two days will⁢ be⁤ very ‌exciting.”

Navigating the intricate ⁤layout of a challenging⁢ golf‌ course can be both exhilarating and perplexing. To elevate your game⁣ and shave strokes off your scorecard, implementing effective navigation ‍strategies is essential. • Utilize Course Maps and⁤ GPS⁤ Technology: Make use of detailed ⁣course maps provided by the facility⁣ or utilize ‌GPS devices to gain an overview of the⁢ layout. This will give ‌you⁤ a clear understanding of the hole configurations, distances, and hazards to anticipate.

Table: Popular⁣ Golf⁤ GPS Devices

Device Features Price Range
Garmin Approach G80 HD touchscreen, hole mapping, shot tracking $399.99-$499.99
SkyCaddie LX5 Virtual ⁣reality course views, ⁢slope adjustment $499.99-$599.99
Shot Scope⁢ Pro LX+ Automatic shot tracking, performance analysis $299.99-$399.99

  • Consider Shot Positioning: ‌When ⁣faced⁢ with a ⁣difficult hole, don’t aim directly for the‌ green. Instead, focus on positioning your shot for the⁤ most⁢ favorable approach. ⁢Laying up to a safer location, for example, may provide a better chance of making par than trying a risky shot that‌ could lead to disaster.

  • Adapt to Course Conditions: ⁢ Don’t assume that every round ‍will play the same. Weather, ⁢wind, and⁢ course maintenance can significantly ⁣alter the course’s difficulty. Adjust your strategy‌ accordingly,‌ taking wind ⁤direction and⁤ speed into account, and playing to the ‍greens’ firmness or softness.
