– Gotterup Surges in Closing Stretch, Grabs Myrtle Beach Lead

Gotterup’s late-round surge was sparked by a string of birdies on the back nine, starting with the par-5 10th hole. He followed that up with birdies on 12, 13, and 15 to take a two-shot lead over Carder.

  • 10th Hole: (-5) Birdie
  • 12th Hole: (-4) Birdie
  • 13th Hole: (-3) Birdie
  • 15th Hole: (-2) Birdie

Carder, who had been tied with Gotterup for most of the day, dropped a shot on the par-4 14th hole to fall one behind. He would birdie the 18th to close within one of Gotterup, but the deficit was too much to overcome.

Gotterup’s victory is his second on the Tour this season, following his triumph at the Utah Championship in August. He now has three PGA Tour wins in his career.

“I’m really proud of the way I played today,” said Gotterup. “I hit the ball well all day and made some key putts when I needed to. It’s a great feeling to win again.”

With four consecutive birdies in the final stretch of her round, Ryann Gotterup secured the lead at the Myrtle Beach Open on Friday. The 25-year-old Pennsylvanian closed with a 5-under 67 to climb from a tie for eighth to the top of the standings.

Gotterup’s surge began on the 15th hole, where she drained a 15-foot birdie putt. She followed with another birdie on the 16th, sinking a tricky 6-footer from the edge of the green.

On the par-5 17th, Gotterup unleashed a booming drive that set her up for a two-putt birdie. She then capped her impressive run with a closing birdie on the par-4 18th, rolling in a 5-footer.

Gotterup’s strong finish pushed her past overnight leader Alessandra Fanali, who carded a 1-over 73 on Friday. Gotterup now holds a 1-stroke advantage over Fanali entering the weekend rounds.

This is not the first time Gotterup has found herself in contention. In 2022, she won the Palmetto Golf Championship on the Symetra Tour and finished in the top 10 at the U.S. Women’s Open. If she can maintain her current form, Gotterup will be a favorite to claim the Myrtle Beach Open title.

Myrtle Beach's leaderboard has a fresh look following a scintillating performance by Remi Gotterup who stormed the back nine on day two. The Norwegian carded four birdies and just one bogey all on the back nine to break free from a congested leaderboard on Friday.

Gotterup's relentless charge saw him sign for a bogey-free 67 to finish with a two-day total of eight-under-par 136, giving him a one-shot buffer heading into the final round. His closest challenger is German amateur Freddy Schott, who has followed up a brilliant round of 68 on day one with another sub-70 round.

With his second under-par round, Schott moved into second place on 137, four shots clear of John Axelsen. Gotterup's first-round playing partner Axelsen made a steady start to his second round but ran into trouble on the 14th hole, making a sextuple-bogey nine. The Dane's day was summed up on the 18th green where he took four putts and walked away with another double-bogey.

Gotterup's impressive finish on Friday at the Myrtle Beach Golf Classic is a testament to the importance of several key strategies for success on this challenging course. Here are some of the tactics that contributed to his victory:

**Aggressive Iron Play:** Gotterup's ability to hit precise and aggressive shots with his irons was crucial in setting up numerous birdie opportunities. His 2-iron on the 17th hole, which set up a short approach from the fairway, is a prime example of this approach.

**Strong Putting:** Sinking putts on slick, undulating greens was paramount at Myrtle Beach. Gotterup's steady putting throughout the tournament, particularly in the pressure-packed final holes, was a major factor in his success.

**Risk Management:** The course demands smart risk-taking to score well. Gotterup navigated the hazards and challenging pin placements wisely, sacrificing distance for accuracy when necessary to avoid bogeys or worse.

**Course Knowledge:** Gotterup's familiarity with Myrtle Beach Golf Club certainly paid dividends. His understanding of the nuances of the greens and the best lines of approach gave him an edge over his competitors.

**Mental Fortitude:** Gotterup's strong mental game, particularly after struggling early in the final round, was evident throughout the tournament. Titleist TSR price drop! $150 off drivers, $50 off fairways/hybrids

**Titleist TSR Drivers, Fairways, Hybrids Priced to Move**

Acushnet is discounting the new Titleist TSR drivers, fairways and hybrids with immediate effect. Drivers drop $150 to $549, while the fairway woods and hybrids are reduced by $50 each. The move is widely seen as a response to the arrival of the new TaylorMade Stealth 2 range, which went on pre-sale on February 7.

The release of the TSR range was met with almost universal praise when they became available in October 2022, but the arrival of TaylorMade’s latest models has certainly shaken things up in the driver market.

Up to now, there has been no response from Callaway, with its Rogue ST drivers still going strong at their original price points. Cobra has already launched its new AeroJet range. With the Titleist reduction, it’s fair to say that drivers are now very competitively priced in the premium sector ahead of the golf season.

North Carolina, US – World No. 2 Nelly Korda has withdrawn from this week’s AIG Women’s Open after being bitten by a dog on Sunday.

Korda was at her rented home in Florida when the incident occurred. She shared on social media that she received stitches on her arm as a result of the bite.

“Unfortunately, I will have to withdraw from the AIG Women’s Open due to a dog bite that required stitches,” Korda posted on her social media.

The 23-year-old American was one of the favorites to win the major championship. She has won two LPGA Tour events this season and finished second at the U.S. Women’s Open.

Korda’s withdrawal is a major blow to the AIG Women’s Open. She is the highest-ranked player in the field and was expected to challenge for the title.
