These courses, showcasing a blend of traditional and contemporary designs, highlight the evolving nature of golf course architecture across various regions. From historic gems to modern marvels, these newcomers are set to impress golfers nationwide.
Introducing GOLF’s Newest Top 100 Courses
This year’s list features an exciting array of new additions that reflect diverse geographical influences and design philosophies. Among them is Sweetens Cove, located in South Pittsburg, Tennessee. Designed by Gil Hanse and opened in 2020, it quickly ascended to prominence, securing the impressive number 11 position on this year’s list.
Another significant entry is Baltusrol Golf Club in Springfield, New Jersey. Renowned for hosting seven major championships throughout its history, this recently renovated course has claimed the number 13 spot on the ranking.
West Coast Excellence: California and Oregon Shine
The states of California and Oregon continue to dominate golf course design with six new entries from California and two from Oregon making their mark on this year’s list. Notable among these is Sheep Ranch Golf Club, situated near Carmel with stunning Pacific Ocean vistas. Additionally, Half Moon Bay Golf Links’ Ocean Course makes its debut after a redesign by Tom Doak that enhances its strategic layout for golfers at all skill levels.
