Nelly Korda channeled her inner Tiger Woods with an eagle dance celebration at the Solheim Cup, delighting fans with her exuberance. The moment is just one of several unforgettable highlights from the biennial tournament between the United States and Europe.
– Nelly Kordas Eagle Dance Delights Solheim Cup
It was Nelly Korda for the eagle and Paula Reto who birdied
the closing hole on Sunday giving their team a draw as Team USA
and Team Europe had to shake hands to halve their early Sunday
match at Inverness Club.
Korda’s memorable ending gave captain Stacy Lewis a
long-sought Solheim Cup moment from the star, and the
players lapped up the subsequent eagle dance to celebrate.
With captain’s assistant Meg Mallon alongside to capture the moment
on her phone, Nelly and sister Jessica, danced back down the 18th
hole with the home fans.
It was not yet over, however. Needing a birdie from Reto on the
18th to secure a draw for Team USA was not guaranteed, but the
American stepped up with a perfect tee shot to leave a mid-iron for her
approach. Keeping her nerve, Reto played a low fade into the green
and when the ball found the bottom of the cup, the match was halved.
Undoing the Team USA hopes was Sweden’s Anna Nordqvist
who had battled back from 3 down in the match to secure another point for Team Europe.
