Korda 6 shots back in quest for record win streak
The 23-year-old American professional golfer Nelly Korda is six shots off the pace at the Volunteers of America Classic after a first-round 70 in Texas. Korda, who is aiming to break the LPGA Tour record of consecutive wins set by Annika Sorenstam in 2005, needs to finish top of the standings in three competitions in a row to beat the Swede’s mark of five in a row. Aged 14, Korda became the youngest in history to qualify for an LPGA major, and in 2021 she won the major Meijer LPGA Classic by three strokes.
