McIlroy-Lowry remain tied for Zurich Classic lead

Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry remain tied for the lead after the second round of the Zurich Classic of New Orleans. The Northern Irish and Irish duo shot a 6-under 66 in four-ball format on Friday to sit at 12-under overall.

They are tied with Americans Trey Mullinax and Scott Stallings, who also shot a 66 on Friday.

McIlroy and Lowry made six birdies and no bogeys at TPC Louisiana, including three birdies on the front nine. They are one stroke ahead of four teams, including defending champions Billy Horschel and Sam Burns.

The Zurich Classic of New Orleans is a team event in which players compete in alternate-shot and four-ball formats. The tournament is being played for the first time since 2019 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
