Bryan maintains lead at wide-open Puntacana

The Puntacana Resort & Club Championship is heading into its final round, and Denny McCarthy will be chasing down a two-shot advantage held by Chris Bryan heading into the final 18 holes on the Corales course. Tom Hoge and Hudson Swafford were tied for third heading into Sunday’s play, three shots behind Bryan, after both golfers shot 3-under 69s in the third round. Bryan was flawless on Saturday needing just 26 putts en route to a 5-under 67, and will look to cruise to his first PGA Tour win on Sunday.

Beau Hossler’s bid for a rare weekend 59 ended in a 61, but it wasn’t enough to get the former Texas Longhorn out of the shadow of sponsor invite Tom Bryan at the Puntacana Resort and Club Championship.

Bryan, who birdied six of the first seven holes he played on Thursday, resumed in similar fashion Friday, birdieing No. 12 to move to 12 under and increase his lead to three on tour rookie Scott Stallings.

Bryan is looking for his first tour win this week, while Stallings is looking for his second. They comprise the final pairing for the final round Saturday at La Cana Golf Club.

Chip-ins help Bryan to early lead at Puntacana

Kelley Bryan chipped in for back-to-back birdies on the 10th and 11th holes en route to taking a one-shot lead after the opening round of the Puntacana Resort & Club Championship. The American, who began his round from the 10th, mixed eight birdies with three bogeys to card a five-under 67 on Friday at the Corales Golf Club. Bryan holds a narrow lead over Dominican amateur Juan Campusano, who is alone in second a 68. John Huh and Ben Griffin are among a group of five players tied for third a further shot back.
