Aberg Soars Ahead with Stellar 63 at Torrey Pines!
TORREY PINES (California), Jan 26 (Reuters) – Maverick Aberg electrified the course with a stunning eight-under-par 63, seizing a commanding three-stroke lead after the opening round of the Farmers Insurance Open on Thursday.
Aberg, who kicked off his round on the back nine, dazzled fans by sinking six birdies in his first nine holes, including an impressive trio at 16, 17, and 18. After a minor setback with a bogey at the second hole, he quickly regained momentum with a birdie at six and capped off his front side with another thrilling run of three consecutive birdies.
Hot on his heels are American Taylor Montgomery and South Korean Lee Kyoung-hoon, both tied for second place after impressive rounds of 66.
