Shocking Disqualification: Pro Golfer Adam Schenk’s Unusual Mistake at the Barbasol Championship
Pro DQs from PGA Tour event in unusual fashion
In a surprising turn of events at the PGA Tour’s Barbasol Championship on Friday, professional golfer Adam Schenk found himself disqualified after incurring a two-stroke penalty for playing from the wrong spot.
While navigating the 10th hole, Schenk’s tee shot veered into a hazard. After taking what he thought was an appropriate drop, he proceeded to play his next shot from the rough. It wasn’t until later that he realized his mistake—he had dropped in an incorrect location and should have played directly from the hazard.
His playing partner, Ryan Moore, alerted a rules official to the situation, leading to Schenk’s disqualification.
This incident marks a rare occurrence; it’s the first time since 2013 that a player has faced disqualification in a PGA Tour event for such an infraction
