Wallace fired a flawless 64 in the first round to open up a four-shot lead at The Renaissance Club. He held onto his advantage throughout the tournament, eventually needing a playoff to defeat South Africa’s Dean Burmester.
“It’s an amazing feeling to win again,” Wallace said. “I’ve been working hard on my game and it’s all coming together now.”
England’s Andrew “Beef” Johnston finished tied for third place, three shots behind Wallace.

Caldwell, Scotland – Matt Wallace fired a flawless 64 to lead the European Masters by four shots after the first round at The Renaissance Club.
The Englishman made five birdies in a bogey-free display to open up a commanding advantage on a day when scoring was tough in the blustery conditions.
“I’m not going to lie, I didn’t have it under control off the tee, but somehow managed to scramble around,” Wallace said. “I’m very happy. It’s not often you play a course blind and post a bogey-free round.”
