Nelly Korda fired an impressive 6-under-par 69 to seize the first-round lead at the Women’s PGA Championship on Thursday. The Olympic gold medalist showcased her class with a bogey-free performance at Congressional Country Club.

Korda’s round was highlighted by an eagle on the par-5 16th hole. She also drained four birdies, including three on the front nine. Her closest challengers are Brooke Henderson and Jennifer Kupcho, who both sit two strokes behind on 3-under-par 69s.

Korda is seeking her first major title since the 2021 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship. She enters the weekend with a slender advantage as the field chases glory at the prestigious tournament.
