Thompson tops U.S. Solheim Cup captain’s picks
U.S. Solheim Cup captain Stacy Lewis added experience and firepower to the Stars and Stripes team, selecting seven-time LPGA Tour winner Lexi Thompson as one of her six captain’s picks. Thompson is coming off a spirited finish at the U.S. Women’s Open, where she overcame a six-stroke deficit in the final round to force a playoff. She is teamed up with Lizette Salas, adding depth to the U.S. squad. Joining Thompson and Salas are Danielle Kang, Mina Harigae, Jennifer Kupcho, Brittany Altomare, and Ally Ewing. Stacy Lewis seeks to reclaim the crown in a cup she lost badly two years ago in Scotland.
