Stacy Lewis fires 64 to take early lead in NW Arkansas Championship
ST. LOUIS – Stacy Lewis fired a seven-under par 64 on Thursday to take a one-stroke lead after the first round of the NW Arkansas Championship.
The American, a two-time major winner, birdied four of her first six holes and added three more coming home to seize the early advantage at Pinnacle Country Club.
South Korea’s Chun In-gee, the reigning Women’s PGA Championship winner, and American Ally Ewing were tied for second after carding six-under 65s.
World number one Ko Jin-young of South Korea, seeking her third LPGA title of the season, opened with a 66 to sit one shot off the pace.
Defending champion Hannah Green of Australia fired a 68, while former world number one Lydia Ko of New Zealand struggled to a 71.
