She’s contending for an Olympic golf medal — with a hole in her shoe?
Golf Star Competes with Torn Shoe at Olympics
TOKYO (Aug. 6, 2021) – Despite a torn shoe, golfer Danielle Kang remains in contention for an Olympic medal.
During the first round of the women’s golf tournament, Kang’s shoe ripped, leaving a gaping hole. Instead of withdrawing, she taped it up and continued playing.
“It’s definitely not ideal, but I’m not going to let it stop me,” Kang said. “I’ve come too far to give up now.”
Kang’s determination has inspired fellow athletes and viewers alike. Despite the inconvenience, she remains focused on her goal of winning gold.
“It’s a testament to her character,” said coach Pio Na. “She’s a fighter, and she’s not going to let anything stand in her way.”
Kang is currently tied for sixth place after two rounds. The final round of the golf tournament will be held on Sunday, August 8.
