New Zealand recognizes golfer Ko with damehood
In recognition of her exceptional golfing achievements and her contributions to New Zealand society, Dame Lydia Ko has been bestowed with one of the country’s highest honors, the damehood.
Ko, who made history by becoming the youngest-ever world number one in women’s golf at the age of 17, has continued to dominate the sport, winning numerous major championships and inspiring a generation of young golfers.
The damehood, conferred by New Zealand’s Governor-General, is a fitting tribute to Ko’s outstanding career and her role as a positive role model for New Zealanders.
