Busy Korda: ‘Not thought’ about pursuit of record
Despite her blistering start to the 2023 season, world shot put champion Chase Ealey said she was “not thinking” about pursuing the world record this year. Ealey, who has a season-best of 20.43m, is just 11cm shy of the world record set by Russian Natalya Lisovskaya in 1987. However, the 33-year-old American said she was more focused on staying healthy and consistent than chasing records. “I’m not really thinking about the world record right now,” Ealey said. “I’m just trying to stay healthy and do my thing and run a bunch of P.Bs. and see where it takes me. Focusing on the world record takes away the fun and everything.”
