Kuchar Withdraws from Phoenix Open after Father’s Sudden Death
Professional golfer Matt Kuchar withdrew from the Phoenix Open following the unexpected passing of his father, Peter Kuchar.
Statement released by the PGA Tour: “The PGA Tour extends its deepest condolences to Matt Kuchar and his family following the sudden loss of his father, Peter Kuchar.”
Kuchar, visibly heartbroken, expressed his appreciation for the support he has received: “My family and I would like to thank everyone for their prayers and kind words during this difficult time.”
He added, “My father was my biggest fan and always believed in me. I know he would want me to continue playing and honoring his memory.”
Kuchar’s withdrawal leaves a significant void in the tournament, as he was one of the pre-tournament favorites. However, golf takes a back seat to family in this challenging time.
