Olympic golfer sounds off on ‘politics’ keeping best LIV pros from Paris 2024
A British Olympian has expressed disappointment that LIV golfers appear set to miss out on the Paris 2024 Games. Tyrrell Hatton was speaking ahead of the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship when he sounded off on what he called “petty politics” getting in the way of the best players teeing off in France. Hatton stated that those involved need to “take a step back and do what’s right for the players and the sport.” The Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) recently announced a window for LIV golfers to earn points necessary for qualifying for Paris 2024. However, with a strong possibility that OWGR points still won’t be awarded at LIV Golf events, it seems likely the door will remain closed for many of those who joined the breakaway circuit.
