U.S. wins first Solheim Cup in 7 years after fighting off Europe in Sunday singles

Team USA emerged victorious in the Solheim Cup on Sunday, defeating Team Europe 15-13. This marks the United States’ first Solheim Cup win since 2015 and only their second victory on European soil.

The outcome was decided in the singles matches, where the Americans won five of the 12 matches. Lexi Thompson secured the winning point for the U.S. with a 2&1 victory over Anna Nordqvist.

Nelly Korda led the way for Team USA, winning all five of her matches. Team Europe’s Celine Boutier was the only player to win all five of her matches for her team.

World number one Nelly Korda and Lexi Thompson combined to win their match 3&2 against Sweden’s Madelene Sagstrom and Bronte Law. Ally Ewing and Megan Khang also ganó for the U.S., as Europe took three of the matches.
