Furue goes 5 under in last 5 holes for 1st major
Ai Furue fired five consecutive birdies on the back nine Sunday to rally for a major breakthrough and win the U.S. Women’s Open in dramatic fashion at Pine Needles Lodge and Golf Club. The 22-year-old Japanese needed to overcome three strokes on her final five holes, birdieing each of the last two to finish one shot ahead of Mexico’s Gaby Lopez.
