Why Justin Thomas feels ‘weird’ on verge of surprising career-first at Hero

At the Hero World Challenge, Justin Thomas expressed unease despite being on the verge of a career first. Thomas, who has won 15 PGA Tour events but never a major, leads the unofficial tournament by one stroke heading into the final round. “It feels weird,” Thomas said. “I’ve been in this position before. I shouldn’t feel like I’m a deer in the headlights. But I do.” Thomas attributed his nervousness to the absence of a cut, which he said removes the pressure to make birdies. “I’m probably thinking about it too much,” Thomas said. “But it’s a major. You’ve got to be ready to make birdies. I’m just trying to stay patient and hit good shots.”
