Fowler (illness) WDs from WM Phoenix Open

Rickie Fowler has withdrawn from the WM Phoenix Open due to an illness, the PGA Tour announced Wednesday.

Fowler, 34, was scheduled to tee off at 11:10 a.m. ET on Thursday alongside Jon Rahm and Justin Thomas. He is now the second player to withdraw from the tournament, joining Harold Varner III, who pulled out on Tuesday due to a back injury.

Fowler has not played since the Farmers Insurance Open, where he finished tied for 65th. He has made just one cut in four starts this season.

The WM Phoenix Open is one of the most popular events on the PGA Tour, and Fowler’s withdrawal is a significant blow to the tournament. He is a five-time winner on the PGA Tour, including the 2019 WM Phoenix Open.
