South Korea’s An Byeong-hun has withdrawn from the Travelers Championship due to an unspecified illness. The 31-year-old was scheduled to tee off in the opening round on Thursday but was forced to withdraw on Wednesday.

An is a two-time PGA Tour winner, with his most recent victory coming at the 2021 BMW Championship. He is currently ranked 48th in the world.

An’s withdrawal is a blow to the Travelers field, which already includes a number of top players, including Rory McIlroy, Jon Rahm, and Scottie Scheffler.

Zhang withdraws from LPGA event due to illness

PGA Tour standout Sungjae Im has withdrawn from the CJ Cup at Byron Nelson due to an unspecified illness, announced by the PGA Tour on Tuesday.

Stricker skips PGA Championship, citing fatigue

Steve Stricker will miss the PGA Championship at Southern Hills Country Club next week, citing low energy levels and general fatigue.

The 12-time PGA Tour winner and 2021 Ryder Cup captain has played a reduced schedule this season, making just seven starts. He withdrew from the RBC Heritage in April due to an illness, and he missed the cut at the Masters in April and the AT&T Byron Nelson in May.

Stricker said he made the decision to skip the PGA Championship after consulting with his doctors. He said he is feeling better, but he is not yet ready to return to competition.

“I’m disappointed to miss the PGA Championship, but I know it’s the right decision for me,” Stricker said. “I’m looking forward to getting back on the course soon, but I need to make sure I’m 100% before I do that.”

World No. 2 Vu withdraws from Chevron Championship due to shoulder discomfort

RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. (AP) — World No. 2 Vu withdrew from the LPGA Chevron Championship on Thursday due to shoulder discomfort.

Vu’s withdrawal marks the first time in her career that she has missed a major championship.

The 24-year-old Vu has been struggling with shoulder pain for the past few weeks. She aggravated the injury during a practice round on Wednesday.

Vu said she is “very disappointed” to miss the Chevron Championship, but she is following the advice of her doctors and physical therapists.

“I’m really hoping to be back competing soon,” said Vu, who won her first major championship at last year’s Amundi Evian Championship.

Vu is the second top-ranked player to withdraw from the Chevron Championship. World No. 1 Ko Jin-young withdrew on Tuesday due to a wrist injury.
