Stricker uses short game to take Firestone lead

Leading after day one of the Bridgestone Senior Players Championship, golfer Steve Stricker attributes his success on Friday to his adept use of the short game. Currently in his fifth season as a member of the PGA Tour Champions, Stricker performed consistently throughout the Firestone Country Club’s South Course. He aimed for conservative pars on the front nine, before amassing three birdies on the 11th, 16th, and 18th holes. Stricker currently sits atop the leaderboard at eight-under 64 and will play with Padraig Harrington and Robert Karlsson in the final group on Saturday.
