The 53-year-old Choi, the 2019 Senior Open champion, recovered from a shaky start with a birdie spree, rolling in four birdies in a row from the 5th hole onwards, including three on the back nine.
Despite a costly double bogey on the par-4 second, Choi’s resilience shone through, and he maintained a steady pace throughout the remainder of the tournament.
Choi’s victory marks his second senior major title and fourth senior win overall, cementing his place among the greats of the game.
Choi stuttered early, but birdied four holes in a row, including three of the last four to regale command of the Senior British Open at Gleneagles.
