3 Steps to Master Long Putts
Reading long putts can be daunting, but it becomes easier with the right techniques. Here’s a simplified guide:
1. Identify the Slope
Observe the green’s contours and identify the approximate slope. This will give you a general idea of the ball’s path.
2. Use the Horizon Line
Lay a dotted line from the hole to your ball. This line represents the horizon against which you can judge the slope. Visualize how the ball will break towards or away from this line.
3. Visualize the Path
With the slope and horizon line in mind, picture the ideal path for the ball to roll. Adjust your stance and stroke accordingly, aiming slightly above or below the hole depending on the break.
